How I can’t wait to be hypnotized every week

Creative InnovationThis is not as crazy as it sounds. We get hypnotized by TV, Media, music, sports or even our friends, colleagues and lovers on the day-to-day basis. I specifically enter a very deep hypnotic state every week on Sundays when I write weekly episodes of Quantum Voyeur with my friend and co-author John Zakour. Quantum Voyeur is a science fiction weekly series on Serealites.

How specifically am I hypnotized to write? Or am I hypnotized by writing?

There are many definitions of hypnosis. One of them comes from my first hypnosis teacher and great hypnotist Dr.George Bien: “Hypnosis is an escape mechanism caused by focus or distraction, interest or boredom, joy or sadness. It’s the escape to inner self that creates power or debility.”

Shall we dissect this? Hypnosis as an escape caused by focus or distraction. When you focus on something, like playing sports or writing an article or presenting a speech to your audience – you enter a powerful zone state, where you no longer judge or analyze your environment or yourself, for that matter. You simply flow. On the contrary, when you are confused by a gypsy, a con artist or a skillful politician, you may feel distracted, trying to make sense of what happened, what to do next and what direction to go. In this case, you are also in hypnosis, a state of receptivity, open to suggestion.

Hypnosis caused by interest or boredom. You can be so interested in Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, curious about the course of events or action in the next scene – you are in the state of attention, hence hypnosis – open to new information entering your mind. Commercials cost loads of money during SuperBall and the next season of a highly rated TV show. Advertisers know exactly when your minds are open to receive and absorb new information!

Boredom? You might ask how one is in the state of hypnosis when bored. You will be surprised. A person can be bored when they can’t process information anymore, they feel either tired or overwhelmed or simply uninterested. This is the time they could be triggered into the state of direct attention to suggestion, because they are already in the sleepy state, easy to manipulate. Give them simple and interesting instruction or information, they will quickly pay attention and follow.

Hypnosis caused by joy or sadness. If you are an indigenous person or aborigine ( thanks for reading my blog!), you know how dancing around the fire can produce tremendous joy and euphoria. That’s your method to enter trance states! If you are a modern person, then think of a joyous moment when you felt, almost like being on a natural ecstasy. Maybe you won an award or received a surprise gift you always wanted. This is a state of hypnosis. You can be so excited you can’t speak, filled with emotions! Sadly, some unscrupulous people, use this state for their advantage that could cause harm: Jim Jones would do it to his followers, creating a false sense of joy as they worshiped their idol.

Sadness. Yes. When you are sad or even depressed, you have a tendency to slip into the state of melancholy, dwelling on something that keeps you at an impasse.  You may think  of the past, visualizing what happened and what went wrong. The more you imagine it- the more you are in hypnosis, as you tend to put critical thinking on hold if not neglect it completely.

Now the final part of George Bien’s definition of hypnosis, “It’s an escape to inner self, that creates power or debility.”

All suggestions, be they from media, TV, teachers authority figures or your self – they enter your mind, penetrating your inner self, affecting your actions and behavior in a new way. They process, digest and produce either power or debility. If you stopped smoking, you gained power. If you continue to believe that you are worthless because your teacher or parent criticized you unfairly when you were a kid – you will create a low self-esteem, causing weakness and some sort of mental debility. Your thoughts create power or lack of it.

Every week I enter hypnosis on Sundays after we receive our final votes from our readers. We only have one day to write and post a new episode every Monday night. Thus far, we have nine more weeks to go. After that, we have two more months to finish a novella, to be published this fall.

It has become an addiction for me, to write every Sunday. I find that I can’t wait for that day, so I can enter a wonderful world of imagination. I plunge into a state of hypnosis caused by profound focus, interest and joy. I escape into my inner self, discovering a new universe of characters and stories. This process overall produces more excitement, joy an personal power. Not to mention an actual tangible result.

8 steps to lose weight in one month. Look at steps 7 and 8 – golden keys to weight loss!

Lose weight fast with hypnosis

We all know, weight loss is possible – we have seen famous people lose weight in rather short periods of time. All you need is two things:

Eat healthy and exercise.

If you follow these 8 steps below– you will lose weight. Guaranteed.

 

  1. Stay away from sugar. You will be surprised how much weight you could lose just staying away from sweets. Look out for the ingredients on the products which you buy at your local store. If you see sugar, fructose or glucose ( anything that ends with “ose”) – put it back on the shelf. No cakes or cookies. You can handle it for a month, at least.
  2. Stay sway from starch: potatoes, rice, wheat and corn. Although, you may have them in very small amounts once in a while ( once a week?), just don’t mix them with protein.
  3. When you eat protein, like lean chicken, meat or fish – eat them with vegetables. Grilled, not fried.
  4. Eat slowly, eat less. The slower you eat, the lesser you eat and the faster you will feel satiated. Imagine yourself meditating on your food, while you eat. Not only will you lose weight (in one month), but you will enjoy your meals a lot more!
  5. Drink plenty of water between your regular meals.  Water will help you wash down toxins and broken down fatty particles. It will also help you reduce your hunger and cravings for unhealthy snacks.
  6. Exercise regularly. Is there anything else to say here? I think it’s clear. Just exercise regularly.
  7. Finally, one of my favorite tools: Visualization. You ought to visualize your slim body – exactly as you want it to look as if you have lost the desired amount of weight.  Excite your mind with the desired images, and it will do anything possible to help you achieve your weight loss goal. Be surprised. Visualization equals materialization.
  8. And lastly, find a way to program your mind with the steps from 1 to 5. Make a recording, consult a certified hypnotist, meditate on your own – do what you must to program your mind with this simple step by step strategy.

Have you ever had a mental orgasm by looking at a picture?

The below illustration can be seen in two different ways. Simply change your mental focus and let your mind surprise you.

As I looked at it, I immediately saw the first picture, which seemed to be the only one. Then I started to focus looking for a second picture. It was not easy. I kept at it for while. I was getting frustrated and ready to give up. I began to think intensely, and looked at every line, shifting my focus carefully from one point to another – and all of the sudden, I literally felt the neurons in my brain firing off in the most over-joyuous explosion as the second picture came alive before my eyes! At that moment it seemed as though my mind had briefly split and then came together and I was falling into a “white hole” swirling with time, space and all matter at the same time. I only wish this feeling lasted longer.

This is a great exercise that shows us how there are many ways of looking at things in life. And when you think you had it all figured out and set your view on life in stone – it is time to start doubting it and shifting your focus, because you maybe surprised to see things in ways you never thought were possible!

Hypnosis Course “Hypnosis 101 with Elena Beloff”

In 2011 during the filming of my documentary film about hypnosis, I taught an intensive Hypnosis 101 one-day course to a small group of 6 students. This was one of the most exciting experiences, as I congested the most important aspects of hypnotism under 6 hours: brief history, hypnotic inductions, how to form suggestions and some stage hypnosis tricks. This hypnosis training course was also filmed in its entirety and is finally available for sale in 6 parts.

As I started the class, I of course had a plan, but I also decided to go with the flow and follow the energy of my group. By energy I simply mean my students’ state of being, the degree of their openness to suggestion and how far they wanted to explore within themselves. To my own surprise the group was very open-minded and eager not only to learn hypnosis, but also to dig deep within themselves and play out various inner parts that they wouldn’t normally act out.

During the class, I hypnotized them to be their favorite celebrities, animals, regress to being children and my personal favorite – to switch gender. Getting in touch with these inner parts allowed my students a greater sense of self-expression, insights and overcoming certain fears and inhibitions.

In the beginning, I have used a few volunteers to demonstrate and teach them a few popular hypnotic inductions, such as Dave Elman and Flower’s Method, mixing them up with progressive relaxation and eye and arm catalepsy. After these demonstrations, I focused on the entire group – I used a popular handclasp suggestibility test, leading with a hypnotic induction to deep relaxation. Each time I brought my subjects to awake state and then back to trance, it became easier and easier to induce a deeper somnambulistic state of trance, because they were beginning to be more and more naturally conditioned to go back to deep relaxation. As they went back and forth unexpectedly in a short time, this process overall created a state of receptivity to suggestion throughout the class.

After some time, all I needed is a word “Sleep!” And my subjects would plunge into a state of deep trance on command. This gave me an opportunity to work with their inner unconscious processes, imagination and creativity.

They thoroughly enjoyed being their favorite celebrities, which allowed them to feel and act like these famous people: they experienced their confidence, stance and view of the world. This is a powerful exercise, which could be so mind blowing, as it literally shifts a subject’s perception, widening the horizons and one’s possibilities. Among these celebrities were Angelina Jolie, Brat Pitt, Barack Obama, Denzel Washington and Lisa Bonet.

Regressing to being a kid could also be quite enlightening, as you give yourself a permission to experience the world anew with a sense of naiveté, openness and joix-de-vivre. As adults grow up they often acquire a set of limiting beliefs, emotional baggage which tends to torment them in life, prohibiting from enjoying it to its fullest. Inner child can evoke an openness and trust which you once had in the beginning of your life, un-infected by the useless limiting patterns, fears and beliefs. It’s nice and healing to experience this joy and a sense of lightness again.

Finally, switching gender while hypnotized has always been one of the most insightful and eye opening to the hypnotized subjects. As one gets to experience the model of the world of another gender through the specific behavior of the opposite sex, their beliefs and value systems – it becomes easier to understand one another and also improves communication between a man and a woman.

  3. Look for their social proof. Have these hypnotists been on TV? Have they written a book? Have they made a film? Have there been any articles written about their work in newspapers or magazines?  Check their Facebook page/city search profile and see what their clients maybe saying. Check how many followers they have on their social media networks.
  4. Make a phone call and have a chat with them. Ask your questions about how they could help you, what the session would entail. Every hypnotist has a unique style and most hypnotists have an expertise, something they are either very good at or are passionate to work with.

Hypnotized in 4 Seconds!

advertisingMany of my clients often ask me how long it takes to get hypnotized and if they are hypnotizable.

If you understand the nature and a basic logic behind hypnosis, you will be surprised to find out how we are hypnotized on the day-to-day basis by our environment, without any long extensive hypnotic inductions, normally used by clinical hypnotists.

Yesterday, I when was walking along Central Park West, I saw a bus passing by to my left  and suddenly, in just one instant my whole attention was on two words. On the side of the bus, in bold red color I read “Breaking Bad.” In that same instant I quickly paid attention to the image that was next to it: a dead looking man laying on the grass, his face is barely seen. In that same second I thought to myself “ Oh no, Walter White will be shot to death by the end of the ‘Breaking Bad’ season.” The following second I thought:  that’s impossible, why would the producers of the show want to reveal the ending? In the following third second I thought, “breaking bad” logo is supposed to be in green color, not red, so this ad is not for “breaking bad.” The following fourth second I thought “ what the heck is this ad for?” And then I saw one word RECTIFY. All of that logic happened in just a few seconds! I came home and googled  “Rectify and breaking bad.” Sure enough, it was a new show on Sundance, produced by the creators of Breaking Bad.

This is how I got hypnotized by two words and one image into googling RECTIFY. The “induction” into the state of receptivity –hypnosis- happened under 4 seconds!

Think about it, in one moment, my critical faculty was completely bypassed as soon as I saw the words “Breaking Bad” and a picture of a dead looking man on the grass. Two words and one image evoked a strong emotion of shock, mixed with worry “ Oh no.. Walter White will be killed.”

This conclusion was immediately rationalized by me when I realized that it would be illogical for producers of the show to reveal the end of the season, especially on the poster and even more, the “breaking bad” logo was supposed to be in green color, not red. But it was too late, the campaign has evoked the strong  emotion in me, for a “dead Walter White” and lo and behold, my attention was quickly fixated on the word “Rectify.”

Hypnosis is a bypass of a critical faculty and the establishment of selective thinking.

We are hypnotized every day by one another and our media and advertising driven environment. There is nothing mysterious about hypnosis. Hypnosis is all around us.

Hypnosis in NYC. What you must know.

Hypnosis in NYC has become a more common and accepted form of therapy for a positive change. Clinical hypnosis can be used to rewire your mind for more healthy behavior patterns and ways of living.

Most of my clients ask two questions before booking a hypnosis session. How does hypnosis work? What if I am not hypnotizable?

Clinical Hypnosis works on a simple principle: a hypnotic induction is used to induce a state of receptivity and positive suggestions are given to client to reprogram their mind.

A state of receptivity – hypnosis – is characterized by focused attention and mental concentration. You don’t have to be in deep trance or a state of altered consciousness in order to be hypnotized for a change, such as stop smoking, weight loss, overcome a bad habit and etc. When you are mentally relaxed, your critical part of the mind is on hold, therefore the information that comes into your mind settles in deeper in the unconscious, becoming part of belief system. Your beliefs become your reality. If on a deep level of your mind your believe that “Exercising is fun, easy and enjoyable and makes you look good and healthy” – then lo and behold, you will exercise naturally, effortlessly, regularly and you will lose weight. If on a deep level of your mind you believe that “ Smoking is poison and brings people closer to death and that from now on you are a non-smoker”- then be surprised how easy it will be for you to stop smoking and never pick up a cigarette again. If on a deep level of your mind you made a choice to move on from a painful relationship and open up to new exciting possibilities – then be amazed at how easy it will be for your to mend your broken heart. How to Overcome Sexual Performance Anxiety

Happy coupleSexual performance anxiety can be overcome with hypnosis therapy. In a matter of one hypnosis session, you can be tuning your thoughts in a positive direction and looking forward to the most pleasurable activity in your life – sex!

At the base of all performance anxiety problems, be it stage fright, fear of public speaking or sexual performance anxiety – there lies a pattern of constant overplaying of a negative inner dialogue. A negative expectation of a failure and a nagging overplaying of the thoughts such as “ I will look bad”, “What will she or he think of me” “ I will feel ashamed”, “I won’t get an erection”, “ I hate myself”, “He thinks I am lame” and etc – all these thoughts can be devastating and affecting one’s ability to perform a natural human function, such as having sex. Some of my clients with this problem have reported, that they even began to dread sex and avoid it, as if it was some chore.

We form beliefs throughout or lives. Whatever we expose ourselves to: various situations, people, events – they all have a powerful effect on how we build our models of the world. Our models of the world define our lives. Because what you believe in – becomes your life.

Negative beliefs usually form after a person is being exposed to negative life situations or circumstances ( willfully or not). Also, negative beliefs often form at the time when certain specific failure or traumatic event take place or someone makes a critical comment about you or your activity.

Many of my clients with sexual performance anxiety report a specific, often embarrassing failure incident that happened in the past, after which they tend to fixate on the idea that such failure might happen again.

It is important to know that everything your unconscious mind does, has a positive intention. If your mind knows you failed in the past, it will do all possible to help you avoid this unpleasant situation again. So how does it try to help you? Simply by reminding you about it, fearing it would happen again and trying not to let that happen. Except the mind doesn’t often understand that by “reminding you about this event”  doesn’t help you at all. It actually does the opposite – you begin to ruminate over the negative, and your expectations tend to materialize again. Because what we think becomes our actions, behaviors and physical expressions.

When I work with my clients with sexual performance anxiety, I use hypnosis to help them break connections with the past. In deep trance I convince their unconscious mind that what happened in the past is done and finished and has no effect on their current thought processes anymore.  On the deep level of the mind they begin to understand that the only way to enjoy sex and receive pleasure is to truly immerse yourself in the experience, let go of the past, and be fully in the moment. I give my clients positive suggestions about their sexual performance, and expectation of success at all times. After the session they feel renewed, recharged, ready to rock the world with their God given talents!
