Check how many followers they have on their social media networks.
  4. Make a phone call and have a chat with them. Ask your questions about how they could help you, what the session would entail. Every hypnotist has a unique style and most hypnotists have an expertise, something they are either very good at or are passionate to work with.

Hypnosis in NYC. What you must know.

Hypnosis in NYC has become a more common and accepted form of therapy for a positive change. Clinical hypnosis can be used to rewire your mind for more healthy behavior patterns and ways of living.

Most of my clients ask two questions before booking a hypnosis session. How does hypnosis work? What if I am not hypnotizable?

Clinical Hypnosis works on a simple principle: a hypnotic induction is used to induce a state of receptivity and positive suggestions are given to client to reprogram their mind.

A state of receptivity – hypnosis – is characterized by focused attention and mental concentration. You don’t have to be in deep trance or a state of altered consciousness in order to be hypnotized for a change, such as stop smoking, weight loss, overcome a bad habit and etc. When you are mentally relaxed, your critical part of the mind is on hold, therefore the information that comes into your mind settles in deeper in the unconscious, becoming part of belief system. Your beliefs become your reality. If on a deep level of your mind your believe that “Exercising is fun, easy and enjoyable and makes you look good and healthy” – then lo and behold, you will exercise naturally, effortlessly, regularly and you will lose weight. If on a deep level of your mind you believe that “ Smoking is poison and brings people closer to death and that from now on you are a non-smoker”- then be surprised how easy it will be for you to stop smoking and never pick up a cigarette again. If on a deep level of your mind you made a choice to move on from a painful relationship and open up to new exciting possibilities – then be amazed at how easy it will be for your to mend your broken heart. Overcome Trichotillomania ( Hair pulling/Hair twirling habit) with Hypnosis

Trichotillomania is  the compulsive urge to pull out (and in some cases, eat) one’s own hair leading to noticeable hair loss, distress, and social or functional impairment. There are variations of the habit, when people try to pull the hair until they see their own skin on the hair, or they twirl them, bite them until the hair gets entangled and destroyed. Sounds gruesome, but this is actually a common habit among women in New York City.

Usually around spring women with trichotillomania seek out solutions to end the habit, as they tend to be more outdoors, with no hats to hide their bold spots. I have been getting a wave of trichotillomania clients in the last few months.

Trichotillomania is usually caused by depression, stress or traumatic events in the past. It many ways, this habit is a way to release anxiety or nervous energy. Many of my clients report that they actually enjoy pulling their hair, as if it gets them into some soothing relaxing state of mind. They forget their stress and troubles, their inner chatter shuts down and they slip into a state of trance. So, unconsciously a person does that with a  positive intention, to feel better and more relaxed.

Logically, every clients understands that hair pulling is a self-distractive, unhealthy and unappealing habit, however the unconscious mind bears  a different belief: “this habit makes me feel better, I release stress when I do it.”

When I work with my clients to help them overcome bad habits such as hair pulling/twirling, I  reeducate  their unconscious mind about the dangers and disadvantages of the habit and I  teach them a few healthy ways ( quick self-hypnosis techniques) to release stress.

There are many self-hypnosis techniques that can immediately help you release anxiety and make you feel more relaxed. My three favorites are Bilateral Stimulation technique, EFT ( Emotional Freedom Technique) or Peripheral Vision technique. These short self-hypnosis techniques serve the same goal as a hair pulling habit: they make you feel calm and relaxed. Except that they are absolutely  healthy!

After we’ve gone over those techniques, I induce a state of deep mental and physical relaxation – hypnosis. I reeducate my client’s unconscious mind about all the disadvantages of the bad habit, that it’s dangerous for their health, doesn’t make them look good, doesn’t fit them anymore and etc.  Most importantly through ideo-motor responses I assure that the client has accepted a new programming and understood the healthy techniques to help them release stress, in case the old urge for a bad habit ever returns.

How to Overcome Sexual Performance Anxiety

Happy coupleSexual performance anxiety can be overcome with hypnosis therapy. In a matter of one hypnosis session, you can be tuning your thoughts in a positive direction and looking forward to the most pleasurable activity in your life – sex!

At the base of all performance anxiety problems, be it stage fright, fear of public speaking or sexual performance anxiety – there lies a pattern of constant overplaying of a negative inner dialogue. A negative expectation of a failure and a nagging overplaying of the thoughts such as “ I will look bad”, “What will she or he think of me” “ I will feel ashamed”, “I won’t get an erection”, “ I hate myself”, “He thinks I am lame” and etc – all these thoughts can be devastating and affecting one’s ability to perform a natural human function, such as having sex. Some of my clients with this problem have reported, that they even began to dread sex and avoid it, as if it was some chore.

We form beliefs throughout or lives. Whatever we expose ourselves to: various situations, people, events – they all have a powerful effect on how we build our models of the world. Our models of the world define our lives. Because what you believe in – becomes your life.

Negative beliefs usually form after a person is being exposed to negative life situations or circumstances ( willfully or not). Also, negative beliefs often form at the time when certain specific failure or traumatic event take place or someone makes a critical comment about you or your activity.

Many of my clients with sexual performance anxiety report a specific, often embarrassing failure incident that happened in the past, after which they tend to fixate on the idea that such failure might happen again.

It is important to know that everything your unconscious mind does, has a positive intention. If your mind knows you failed in the past, it will do all possible to help you avoid this unpleasant situation again. So how does it try to help you? Simply by reminding you about it, fearing it would happen again and trying not to let that happen. Except the mind doesn’t often understand that by “reminding you about this event”  doesn’t help you at all. It actually does the opposite – you begin to ruminate over the negative, and your expectations tend to materialize again. Because what we think becomes our actions, behaviors and physical expressions.

When I work with my clients with sexual performance anxiety, I use hypnosis to help them break connections with the past. In deep trance I convince their unconscious mind that what happened in the past is done and finished and has no effect on their current thought processes anymore.  On the deep level of the mind they begin to understand that the only way to enjoy sex and receive pleasure is to truly immerse yourself in the experience, let go of the past, and be fully in the moment. I give my clients positive suggestions about their sexual performance, and expectation of success at all times. Other times they know what they want, but they simply feel overwhelmed and can’t get started. In some cases they know what they want, they have started their work but consciously get sidetracked, procrastinate and never finish. So they get more discouraged, feel like a failure and don’t know how to move forward.

Hypnosis can address all of these problems and pave the way to success. How?

There are four basic steps to any success: knowing your goals, planning your strategy, executing your plan and closing. You also have to have certain mental attributes, specific emotional and mental states, and personal qualities. Staying focused, clear, driven, determined, positive, punctual, going extra mile, persistent, being energetic, physically healthy – are examples of some of the key ingredients of success.

When I work with my success motivation clients I first spend some time helping them identify their goals. We talk about their one year, five year and ten year plan. I ask a client to describe the steps they would take toward their goals and how exactly they could be accomplished. We talk about what recourses they already have and which need to be acquired and how. There is absolutely nothing impossible. If there is a will, there is always a way.

Visualization of your goals allows the manifestation of those goals by showing your powerful and resourceful unconscious mind what it feels like to have your dreams achieved. You allow your mind to see and feel and maybe in some cases even hear the success of your dreams. This is like titillating your mind, exciting it by the powerful reality like imagery of your dreams. Be surprised how in a waking state you will be almost like on an autopilot, moving in the directions of your goals, feeling more motivated, inspired and energetic than ever.

I spend time with my clients writing their personal story of success, consisting of specific positive affirmations according to their goals. For instance, for a writer who needs focus and motivation to write a screenplay or a novel, I would give suggestions like “You are able to focus on writing the most intricate stories. Overcome Harmful Habits with Hypnosis

Nail biting, hair pulling, skin picking, thumb sucking, smoking are all common bad harmful habits that can easily be overcome with hypnosis and replaced with new positive and healthy habits. Instead, you can be programmed to take care of your nails and skin, to exercise moderately and comfortably, and lead an over-all healthy life style.

Most bad habits are associated with some positive feeling of satisfaction or comfort. These associations are stored in your unconscious mind and were formed at some point in your life.  It doesn’t matter when and how they were formed, because for hypnosis all we need to do is program your mind with new specific affirmations about the negative aspects of your habit and the positive consequences of overcoming it. Sometimes, in the case with bad habits, all your mind “knows” is, how comfortable it makes you feel to bite your nails, pick your skin or pull your hair, while logically you know it is unpleasant, un-appleaing and overall useless. Through hypnosis you can rewire these associations and remove the old patterns. How to hypnotize yourself

Does self-hypnosis work?

People often ask me if self-hypnosis works and  what’s the best way to do self-hypnosis. There are many ways, of course. You can listen to self-hypnosis audios with a hypnotic induction leading to trance. You can meditate using deep breathing techniques or your personal mantras. You can also look at various hypnotic moving visuals, like the waves of the ocean. Or you can use hypnotic visuals still images, like spirals for example. The goal of all of these methods is to help you achieve a thoughtless state of mind, where you no longer judge your environment or the information that comes into your mind.

I found a hypnotic spiral on fotolia images, which doesn’t look like a usual hypnosis spiral. It’s actually a square, which consists of many circles with warm light red to black colors. If you look at this hypnotic image, after a few seconds you will find yourself getting hypnotized, all thoughts will naturally begin to push away into the distance. You will feel a subtle relaxation in your facial muscles. Even your eyes will feel hypnotized, feeling a little heavy and very relaxed. A soothing wave of relaxation will spread down into your nose and cheeks, all the way down into your chin. Try it for yourself. Just stare at this image below for a few moments. Once you feel relaxed, you can simply say your positive affirmations out loud, letting them sink deep into your unconscious mind. For example, if you want to feel more focused and productive today you can use these affirmations:

I feel more focused today    My mind is sharp and clear   I have a great memory

I accomplish more every day   I feel more and more productive  Ideas come naturally to me
